Privacy policy
sg verse. Last updated 9 October 2026.
sg verse shows deals, promotions and new happenings in Singapore. This page says what the app keeps about you, why, and how to remove it. We keep it short and plain on purpose. By using sg verse you agree to this policy.
What we keep
- Your account: email address and display name. Your password is handled by Google Firebase; we never see it.
- Your activity: deals you saved, deals or happenings you submitted (text, links, and any photos, PDFs or video you attach), "still valid?" answers, and problem reports.
- Your interests: the categories you pick for "For you" are kept on your device and, if you are signed in, in your account. Deleting your account removes them.
- Feedback: if you answer "Not really" when the app asks whether you are enjoying it, the note you write is kept with your account id and app version, at most one a day. Only our team reads it. Deleting your account removes it.
- Notifications: a push token for your device, so we can tell you a saved deal is ending or a submission was reviewed.
- Crash reports: if the app crashes, Firebase receives the crash trace, device model, Android version and app version. The Android app counts usage with Google Analytics (see "Analytics (app)" below).
- On the website: your recent searches, an unfinished deal draft and whether you dismissed a banner are kept in your browser's local storage on your device, and are never sent to us. The website sets no cookies other than Google Analytics ones (see "Analytics (website)" below). It shows no ads.
- Website error reports: if something breaks, the website may send a small error report (error text, page path, browser type) to our server. It contains no account details. We use it only to fix bugs.
- Ads: the app shows ads in some lists. To choose and show them, Google AdMob receives your device's advertising ID, IP address, approximate location, and basic device and app information, and sets or reads identifiers on your device. We do not give AdMob your email, name, saved deals or submissions. See "Ads" below.
Why we use it
- To run your account and sign you in.
- To show, review and share the deals and happenings people submit.
- To send the notifications you ask for, such as a saved deal ending or a submission being reviewed.
- To stop spam and misuse.
- To keep the app and website working, and to improve them (crash reports and analytics).
- To show ads in the app.
What other people can see
When a deal or happening you submit is approved, it, the official link you add, the photos or files you attached, and your display name are shown publicly in the app and on its share page. We give new accounts a default name like "Member 4821"; you can change it any time in Profile, and a change also updates your earlier submissions. Your email address is never shown. Saved deals, votes and reports are private to you and the reviewers.
AI
We use AI to help analyse submissions, for example to read and tidy the details of a deal or happening. The text, links or images you submit may be processed by an AI service provider that acts on our behalf for this purpose. Some deals also come from the public listings and weekly promotions of malls and supermarkets.
Ads
Some lists show ads, clearly marked "Ad". They are provided by Google AdMob, which may use your device's advertising ID to choose ads. You can reset your advertising ID, switch off ad personalisation or delete the ID in your Android settings (Settings > Google > Ads, the exact place varies by phone). Where the law requires it, the app first asks for your choice and you can change it later under Ad privacy options in Profile. Learn more in Google's advertising policy.
Children
sg verse is for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13; if we learn that we have, we delete it.
Analytics (website)
The website uses Google Analytics (through Firebase) to count visits. It is part of how the website works, and there is no on/off switch on the site. A small notice on your first visit tells you about it; choosing OK just closes the notice.
Google Analytics sets cookies or similar identifiers in your browser and receives: the pages you open (the path only, never the part after a ?), which deals you view, save, share or open at the original source, searches (lowercased and cut to 40 characters), sign-ups and sign-ins (only the fact that one happened), deals or happenings you submit (only the fact), your answers to "Still valid?" and the reason of a report, plus approximate location and browser and device details that Google derives. It does not receive your email, name, account ID or the content of any deal. Google signals and ads personalisation are switched off.
You can limit it by blocking cookies in your browser settings, by using Google's opt-out add-on, or by not using the website. How long Google Analytics keeps the data is set in our Google Analytics settings.
Analytics (app)
The Android app uses Firebase (Google Analytics) to count the screens opened and actions such as searches, saves, shares and submissions, plus your approximate location and device and app information (an app instance ID). It does not receive your email, name, account ID or the content of any deal. Google signals, ads personalisation and advertising-ID collection for analytics are switched off. This is part of how the app works and there is no switch for it in the app. To stop it, uninstall the app; clearing the app's data resets the app instance ID. Crash reports (above) are separate.
Who processes it, and where
Google (Firebase, Google Analytics, and AdMob for ads in the app) and an AI service provider that helps us analyse submissions. Our database and servers run in Google's Singapore region, but these providers may process data in other countries, including the United States. We use providers that make data-protection commitments.
Sharing
We share your data only with the providers above, when the law requires it (for example when a court or regulator asks), or if sg verse is sold or merged, in which case the new owner must treat your data under this policy. We do not sell your data, and we do not give advertisers your account details.
Deleting your data
Open the app (or the website), go to Profile, and choose Delete account. You confirm with your password. Step-by-step instructions are on the delete your account page. This removes your account, saved deals, notification token, votes, reports, uploaded files, and any submissions that were still pending or rejected. Deals of yours that were already approved stay in the app because other people rely on them, but your name is replaced with "Former member" and they are no longer linked to you. Our internal review notes and moderation log are covered under “How long we keep it” below.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account exists. When you delete your account, what is listed under “Deleting your data” is removed. Two kinds of internal records are not removed at that point: our review notes and our moderation log. Only our reviewers can see them, and they may keep a copy of what was submitted and what we decided, so we can deal with abuse and disputes. If you want something removed from them, email us (see “Your rights”). Google keeps analytics and crash data for the periods set in our Google settings.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent, for example by deleting your account or changing your ad choice in Profile. Email us and we will reply within 30 days. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Personal Data Protection Commission.
Keeping it safe
Access to the data is limited by security rules, uploads are checked, and administrators who review deals can see submissions and reports. If you think something is wrong, tell us through the contact below. If a data breach that could seriously harm you happens, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Changes
We may update this policy; the date above changes when we do. If you keep using sg verse after a change, you accept the updated policy.
